Are you Twittering?Posted by wackedmarketer in social marketing, internet marketing |
No idea what twitter is? Neither did I until recently. A business partner of mine, Jim Spencer made me aware of this relatively new and unique communications and marketing tool. If you go to their website you'll see a quote that reads that twitter is comparable to many other things that people don't "get" at first. I have to admit I had the exact same thing happen to me. I heard about it, checked it out and wondered why anyone even signed up to it.
I mean let's be realistic here, it's snippets, strung together by the twitter system. I'm still trying to figure out myself whether it will have any use to me. As internet marketers we know, that any system that generates links that could potentially lead to your site, are a good thing and perhaps that's all this is, just disguised as a tool we will see a "need" for at some point.
The main thing I like about Twitter is that I don't feel like I'm adding myself to another ad network owned by someone else. I keep telling DJ Friends and fellow producers, that Myspace or Facebook are great promotional tools, because the network of people you can expose yourself to is targeted and live. The downside here is that you're only going to get the exposure because you're in that ad network. I always suggest people use Myspace for promotion, but never forget to link it to your website, so you can do something with the incoming traffic.
